I have come to the conclusion.

I am an idiot when it come to the line.

Football Wrap Up

So another week of football is over and what have we learned.

We learned if you hit a five team parlay put more money down.

My college picks

Michigan W (L) They did look sluggish but they covered. Rats!

Georgia W (L) This should be a straight up loss. Hey I rake the Buffalos over the coals and they played inspired until the end. That was a crushing loss for them. Here you are sitting 0-2 and you have a chance to win a huge road game, then to see it slip away. That was not a fun planeride home.

Auburnn W (L) The Bulls coverat Auburnn, another moral victory. I would like to see Gill turn that program around. Haven’t they suffered enough?

Cal W (W) By the time the Sun Devils figured things out they were already behind the woodshed

Ohio State W (W) Closer than the scores indicates. Joe Pa kept them around, but they have no offense and they blew some opportunities. Ohio State just keeps rolling along. Next week at Iowa, which I hope will be entertaining.

Washington W (W) Karl this one hurt. The Bruins should have blown this team out. The scored should have been at least 24 – 0 before the Huskies first score. Hand it to the Huskies. This team could have packed it up, but they didn't. That was a winable game for the Bruins. This one was a shot to the nuts, plain and simple.

USC W (L) Great defense, but the Trojans O looks out of synchsync hopefully it never gin synchsync. Have I mentioned I hate these guys. I think fans will just need to realize that every game is not going to be a blow out, so don’t clog the airwaves with your whinny about not scoring 50 points a night. But then you are SC and that is what you good at. Yes I am very jealous of your success, so bite me.

Michigan State L (L) What they hell is going on at MSU? This maybe one of the most scitzo programs in D-I. Some Saturdays they play like world beaters and others play like the weaker directional Michigan schools. This team does get players right. This program is not a bottom feeder. I think the last time they played in a meaningful bowl game was the Rose Bowl in 87.

So for this week I was: 7-1 SU and 3-5 ATS

That puts the old Boski at:

15-3 SU

8-10 ATS

Now let us shift our attention to the pros.

Redskins W (W) Redskins 31 – 15 Skins spotted the Texans 7 and then beat them with the back end of a shovel the rest of the afternoon. Mark Burnell set an NFL record with a little help from a penalty, with 22 straight completions. It showed they needed Clinton Portis, but this team still far from being a playoff team. If they do this against a quality team then I might change my tune. The Skins need to open up the playbook and strech the field. They did a better job Sunday, but they need to get the ball up field enough to keep 8 out of the box. Bubble screens are great but this aint college so you can only go so far, if that is the majority of you passing game.

Bills L (L) Jets 28 – 20 Just when it was safe to go back into the water. The Jets did something that has never been done. It won a game even when it allowed a 150 yard runner and a 300 yard passer. Buffalo could move the ball, but the Jets made plays when they needed them. Did anyone think the Jets would be in 2nd place of the AFC East after week 1? I didn’t either.

Colts to win, Jags to cover W (P) Colts 21 – 14 Good effort but not good enough Jags. Special teams are special for a reason. Missing a 24 yarder that could have put more pressure on the Colts who where being stymied by a good defensive effort. But if you don't put points on the board you asking for trouble. Hey it was really dangerous to see that the Jag coaching staff let one of their kids run the football. Oh wait that was just Maurice Jones-Drew all 5 foot 6 of him. I loved him at UCLA and I hope he makes it in the league, but it does look like a helmet running the football.

Lions L (L) Packers 31 - 24 More things change the more the things look the same in Detriot. Hey you at least have the Tigers for a couple more weeks.

Dolphins W (L) Dolphins 13 – 10 The Dolphins did get a gift, but the way they played it looked like the Titans had given them some bad clams. Even with this win, the Super Bowl will only be in reach if they contact a ticket agents now.

Bears W (L) Bears 16 – 13 Rex Grossman showed a lot by shaking off the late Pick for Six and leading the Bears to the win. Now if they get the running game going they will be playing in the NFC Championship Game. The Vikes have shown a great deal so far and it looks like that cleaning house was the right thing to do.

Carolina W (L) Carolina 26 – 24 That was a fight between two desperate teams. It looks like the Bucs lost more than the game. Man, Chris Simms took a beating and a half. And now knowing his spleen may have looked more like hamburger, he still went out there and nearly willed them to a win. The Panthers still have some issues to fix, but they stayed in the NFC South race. Cleats off to Kasay for hitting 4 FG’s of 46 yards and longer.

Pittsburgh L (L) Bengals 24 – 20 The last time I saw a punt return messed up like that was when I was a Sophomore in high school. The Steelers had this game and they made mistakes along the lines of getting into a land war in Asia. They gave the Bengals too many chances. Two TO’s in the second half that lead to two, two play drives and 14 points. The Bengals were so happy that after the game a couple of them celebrated with the Highway Patrol.

Baltimore W (L) Ravens 15 – 14 Charlie, throw the ball away. I have seen hell, and it is life as a Browns fan.

Seahawks W (W) Seahawks 42 – 30 The Giants may be the biggest headcases in NFC East. I was listening to someone talk about the Giants and how when they win, it all about the players making the plays. But when they lose they blame the coaching. This is going to get ugly at Camp Coughlin if they do not get on track soon. Fantasy tangent -This game was a tough one to swallow. Yes, I am one of those unlucky to have had the 3rd pick of their fantasy drafts. I took Alexander. So right now I want to punch John Madden in the mouth. But I had two other players in this game one of them was Hassleback. So you think I should have won going away right. Nope, I won but only by a couple of points. That was due to the fact the team I played screwed up its line-up. The other horse I had in the race was the Seahawk D, which played great in the 1st Half . But they gave up way too many points and yards. Totally wasting that 1st half effort. Damn it, damn it, damn it. Okay back to real football, we will see how long the Seahawks will be without Alexander and if they can win. Tasty tidbit last season they did go 10 – 0 without their top wideout. So this team has operated without all of it's tools and won. I know some tool are more valuable than other, but I think they will hold things down till he comes back. That is if he comes back.

Eagles to win, but 49ers to cover W (L) Eagles 38 – 24 Mike Peterson just crossed the goaline. Well, it looks like the Eagles are over last weeks debacle. I wonder if the NFL will ever look at offensive facemasking. I think sometime ballcarriers get away with too much with the stiff arms. A defensive player goes to the head of an offensive player and that is a penalty, but Brian Westbrook rockem sockem a Niners DB and it’s a great play. Keep the stiff arm but when you delivering a right cross to a players head, then it should be a penalty. Hey I am just saying.

Cardinals L (L) Rams 16 – 14 Yes Denny Green you should be very pissed after this one. You get a gift like that and then boom you team soils themselves well within FG range . Maybe even with the new duds and new stadium they are still just the Cardinals.

Patriots L (L) Broncos 17 – 7 Wow the power of negative thinking. I thought they would be in this game but they would not generate enough O. I was wrong, and they didn’t really need much O. They made Brady angry and I loved it. Now this team still has some kinks to workout. The running game is not all the way back. The passing game still is a little undercooked. And they still need to get more heat on the QB without having to send more than 6

Falcons L (L) Saints 23 – 3 Well if you wanted a Movie of the Week, you got it. This game was made for the Hallmark Channel. The Falcons reverted to what I thought they would be more like. But I must realize that they were not this bad and they did weaponsve some defensive wepons. I see them rebounding. Also tonight it was not 11 on 11 out there. For the Saints, I hope they keep being the surpise of the season. It would be good for them, and the city and the league. Even though I think it is just a matter of time before that team leaves. So I hope they can enjoy it while it lasts. They most certainly earned the right to have something entertaining take their minds off all they are enduring. Still lots of rebuilding to be done. I hope we don’t think it is all okay and forget about it. Alright I am done with that and I am off the soapbox.

Let us look at the big board.

Week # 3: SU 8 – 6 (Yuck) ATS 2 – 11 – 1 (That was horrible)

So after 3 weeks it stands:

SU 32 – 14 (69%) That is a D+ Mr. Boski
ATS 20 – 25 – 1 (43%) Bad, but still above the president's approval rating.

The lesson here is that should you ever acquire a farm, don't bet it!
